Hi, everyone, I have a malfxned wiper motor to be replaced. I have a hard time to remove the wiper arm cap to access thhe fasten bolt to untie the arm from the motor.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

It is a great car on highway if you want to do 75-85mph.

Thanks

Removal and Installation

1. Lift the windshield wiper pivot arm to the full upright position.

2. To remove the windshield wiper pivot arm..

1. Release the locking tab.

3.      NOTE: During installation, it is necessary to pull the locking tab out to its full open (unlatched) position and hold while assembling the pivot arm onto the mounting arm and pivot shaft. Align the key on the pivot arm head with the keyway on the shafts. This will make sure the pivot arm is correctly aligned

4.    To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Thanks for the instruction.

I had a hard time to do the following:

"2. To remove the windshield wiper pivot arm....
1. Release the locking tab. ----I pull it a few millimeter away from the pivot arm and it stopped. Is this the right way?
2. Remove the windshield wiper pivot arm".---With the locking tab pulled away for a few millimeter as in "1", I can not lift the pivot arm. Am I supposed to lift the whole arm off the pivot? Or just open the cap and loosen the locking nut inside?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Purplespring.

There isn't a lock nut inside .. They are a 'slip fit' over the pivot shaft splines, with a positioning/locating key..

When you slide/pull the release tab out from the lower portion of the wiper arm, it will release the arm from the pivot shaft.. You may need to push down and/or wiggle the arm as you move the tab out.. Make sure the arm is fully lifted on over center position, (like when you clean the glass and they remain lifted sticking straight up).. So,, raise the arm over center,, then simply/carefully pry the tab out, and gently 'rock' the arm slightly as you pull straight up.. There will be a locating 'key' that should stick to the pivot shaft or may stay inside the wiper arm bore..

When you have the locking tab pulled out, lower the wiper arm back towards thwe windshield.  It should stau off the glass about 3 or 4 inches, give or take.  Then the arm assembly should come off the pivor fairly easily.
