I may have the same problem you do. I have a 2001 zts that sputters really bad when you try to accelerate but idles fine. My friend has a diagnostic reader and it read IAT. Car does not have one so the ford dealership said it was the mass air flow sensor. Replaced the m a s and it didn't fix the problem. Could it be the oxygen sensor or could the catalytic converter be blocked off? Hope someone can help.

Several things to look into: Check Engine Light, get it scanned at an autoparts store foe free, it will tell you something. Clean out the throttle body, change the fuel filter, check for any vacuum leaks, clean out the EGR valve, port, and tube, make sure the MAF senor is clean (the wire), run soem fuel system cleaner. Those are a few things to check.
