Help please!
I have the fuel pump with the three little dashes (instrument light)coming on a few minutes after starting my 04 F350 6.0 fwd crew dually. Per local dealership, I have replaced a perfectly good air filter ($77) that didn't help, next after checking/resetting the air intake sensor that wasn't even engaged, i was told to replace it ($25), and then i was told to reset the light by disconnecting batteries for 20minutes. Well, I still have the light lit. The truck runs fine so far. I have browsed through several hundred postings without seeing a fix. I am without owners manual and my haynes manual doesn't address instrument lights.

The other question that my local dealer deisel mechanic could not answer is why my m.p.g. display stays at 8.5 and has not change in the 7 months I have owned the truck (city, highway, towing or not).

without the owners manual I'm not sure what the sensor light is called but its the same light that comes on with the glow plug light prior to starting the engine

You can download an owners manual here..  https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals/default.asp  The filter minder (filter sensor) circuit is hard wired to the instrument cluster and the minder provides a grounding connection to complete the circuit illuminating the indicator lamp if the filter becomes resticted.. Could be the cluster itself, or possibly a shorted wire..

thanks for the manual info, im downloading it now. i was really hoping for an easy fix with the sensor light but don't it look like it will be too simple. still looking for fix for M.P.G. display stuck on 8.5 average mpg's.

the dash light is telling you you have water in your fuel filter. come on guys read your owner's manual, don't just look at it and say you read it

Have you tried resetting your mileage indicator by holding down BOTH bottons at the same time on your over head console? If not then 8.5 is what you have averaged over the life of your vehicle.
