Hayapower -> RE: 2001 7.3 issues (10/19/2007 9:26:58 AM)

The 7.3 doesn't have a blow by tube/pipe.. Engine blow by is vented through the left valve cover and is taken into the intake/turbo..It's a closed system.. Like in the previous post, start by looking into the engine 'valley' and it should be completely 'dry'.. If you see puddled oil there, it will flow to the back area of the valley where it runs out the right/passenger side of the block.. High pressure (HPOP) oil pump leaks aren't uncommon, or its high prssure lines.. More so on higher mileage engines.. This would be the first place I'd look, then, if the valley is dry, making my way down and around.. It helps if you can completely clean the engine, then drive it a few miles hot, and recheck for any leaks.. Doesn't mean it couldn't be leaking from another area, like seals, covers ect. but the 7.3 is a pretty oil tight engine in most cases..
