I have a 2001 Ford Taurus SES V6 with SOHC. It has 94000 miles. Runs awesome and performs like new. The problems I've been having is with suspension though. I just had all 4 struts and mounts replaced because there is a clanking coming from the front end. Sort of like a knocking whenever I go over bumps. And now that I replaced all the struts it's still there. In addition when I go over bumps at higher speeds the car is not stable, it sort of sways left to right or vica versa while going over bumps. Any idea what it might be causing it? What should I do?

My other problem is that when I had the struts replace my mechanic mentioned told me that the rear coil spring is cracked and from research i found out that this a continous problem. I'm afraid of purchasing the same springs....are there any good aftermarket coil springs that I can put rather than those? I can't find anything good. I'd rather put some kind of performance product for a great comfortable ride. Can anyone suggest anything? I appreciate your help. Thank you!

The problem also could be in the swaybar links? when they changed your struts they should have seen a broken spring? I use the moog springs at the shop and i have no customer complaints!

Thank you very much for your reply. I also saw the MOOG. Its good to hear that they are reliable I was considering buying them. They are kind of pricey though. You've been very helpful. Now is this the only thing that coiuld be causing that knocking noise? Also are there any ohter springs available that offer different confort levels? Like stiff, comfortable, and so forth? I can't seem to find any other brands that offer coild springs for the 2001 Ford Taurus SES. If you can give me some insight, that would be extremeley helpful.

My other problem is that whenever it rains and I turn the engine ON, the engine gives a HIGH SQUEAK and then the noise gradually disappears. I did get big scare when this past week it rained extremely hard and the car was int he rain for 3 days. When I went to work and drove the car, it was vibrating  a lot when I accelerated. Almost as if the belts had to traction to move the car forward. It was like there was water buildup in the engine or something. Once a day passed and the car dried, everything returned to normal. Any clues? Is water getting in there somehow? What should I do? I really appreciate your input....From one Taurus owner to a loyal Mechanic.....Sincerely Andre.
