Hey you guys, what can I do about improving my performance and my mpg (I know that is an oximoron). It is old and bone stock now. I was thinking about a chip or a programmer for it.

try a new intake like a k&n. A spacer for the throttlebody (found on ebay fairly cheap) which take minutes to install will help mpg and power. Buying a chip or programmer really isnt the best way sometimes. They may require a higher grade of gas with the new program and thats gonna cost you big bucks soon enough.

I agree a chip isnt always the answer. I recommend some sort of free flowing intake filter or cold air kit, K/N, Air Raid what ever you prefer. free flowing exhaust,  full synthectic oil change, eng, trans, rear end, good tune up and advance timing a couple of degrees. Keep your foot out of it. LOL then if you still arent satisfied try a programmer/ chip and place it on economy.
Hope this helps should make a big difference. It did for me on my 91 f-250 when I drove it nice.

Mark
