Hi,
I have a 99 Duratec V6 w/112k on the motor.  Does the timing chain need to be replaced like the timing belt on a 4 banger?  I went to Ford's site and pulled up the maintenance schedule for the car and it doesn't mention a timing chain replacement schedule.  It's an awesome motor want to keep it running.  Anyone have any ideas on that one?  thanks

The timing chain has no interval for changing.  The belt can be prone to breaking and the chain is more sturdy and not as likely to break.  If the chain stretches or slips, you will notice a decrease in power and other drivability problems.  If you are mechanically inclined and have the time and ability, you could change if you wanted to.  Just keep up on the regular maintenance.
