I have rebuilt the carb on my moms car many years but few miles ago.  It seems to always leak a little fuel.  My dad wants to replace it, but I cannot find a new unit.  Carb # C6sfa.  1966 390.

Where can I find:  a new carb?
                        a replacement carb?
                        a factory rebuilt carb?

I want something that will bolt on with little modifacation to the current fuel line, vacuum lines and etc.  It must not require buying a bunch of extra parts to make it fit/work.

Aside from the leak, is there anything wrong with it?  If not, where is it leaking from?

Can't really tell where the leak is from, but there is fuel on the intake front and right side of the carb.

As far as whats wrong, I don't know.  So far we have replaced the fuel pump and filter plus did a points conversion.  But the car seems to just lose power once you get it up to speed (45).

Running out of ideas.

Number one is usually a leaky accelerator pump, but the power valve is a definite possibility also. Beside the carb. leakage can occur at the throttle rod if the rod is too loose (although you NEVER want it too tight or else the throttle could stick wide open). I've rebuilt carbs. like this time and time again. 90 percent of failures occur with the rubber material of the accelerator pump simply because it has more exposure to the elements than the power valve. Although the power valve can be tricky to properly install for a new guy. Also the very small bolts must NOT be overtightened. If the threads are stripped out of any of them it WILL leak. I can overhaul carbs. (and rejet them if necessary) if it is of any interest to you -just email me.
