I just looked at the paperwork when the dealership replaced the clutch. It was replaced Nov/99. The mileage was 55484, the truck now has 115,000 mi.
This is what the paperwork says:

7519A - Clutch Pedal Assembly - replace
1 Clutch Discs
1 Pressure Plate
1 Hub and Brg Asy-CL Rel
1 Brk & Cl Pdl & Brkt Asy
1 Switch Asy
7003A3 Clutch Pressure Plate, Disc or Pilot Bearing - Replace
7003A32 Hub and Bearing and/or Fork - Clutch Released - Replace

Not sure what all this means....

Other then:
1 Brk & Cl Pdl & Brkt Asy
1 Switch Asy
All parts listed, are just a clutch kit. Hope your hubby has a lot of tools or is comfortable with removing trans.

you want to ask for a CLUTCH KIT,,,, comes with clutch disc, pressure plate, relase/throwout brg. pilot brg, an a cool lil tool to align the disc with the plate an flywheel,,,, You should remove the flywheel an take it a machine shop to get it trued,, This really isnt a bad job to do -- probaly will take a full day to get it done if this is your / his first time doing one ,,, You should get you a service manuel that will take you step by step to do it,,, Also you might want to go to WWW.AUTOZONE.COM you should be able to look up the info there, also your going to need a floor jack to remove an install the tranny -- you can rent a tranny jack at some rental stores,,, If you do the job yourself your looking at probaly $200.00,,, If you take it to a shop your probaly looking at $400.00 - $ 600.00

If you have a duel mass flywheel change it to a single mass by Luk and the dealer is the last place I would take it not to say they don't do a good job but they are always going to cost you more money. The single mass set up will cut peddel effort in half. If you do alot of intown driving you know what a pain it can be. The last one I did it cost about $1000.00.

Ya, By now the sound is likely the clutch release bearing. They usually last a while before letting go. But just a thought on prices your local transmission shop may be able to help. I know for when I worked In one we did clutch jobs less than $300. canadian.
