Changed the transaxle filter and fluid today. I dropped pan ,removed filter and refilled tranny with 6 quarts of fluid like I have heard and read to do. Did not show any on dipstick.,to make story short, added fluid in small increment , even drove car around block a few times and had finnally put a total of 8 quarts to get it in cross hatch area. Drove it out to eat this PM and checked when I got back ( about a 30 mile round trip) and it was in cross hatch area slightly. Has anyone else done this and added this much fluid. We recently purchased this van, and since I have heard horror stories about the fluid and tranny problems and dont want to create problems by overfilling..but the stick did check ok.. Whish I had measured what I removed..It has 47000 miles, 3.9 V6.  Thanks

If you service the trans in the drive way on a jack or ramps, this is not abnormal. Keep checking the fluid levels, and add only if the trans is warm/hot and the fluid is not in the hatch area.
