the most common part replaced for this is the throttle body. What size engine is in it?

You need to have the throttle body cleaned.  This is usually done when the injectors are serviced or the intake is serviced.  If you haven't had either done, then you can clean the bore of the throttle body with a combustion chamber cleaner.  Spray it into the bore and let it set about 15-20 mintues and then start the vehicle and continue to spray around the outside of the bore where the butterfly plate seats.  Also have the pvc valve changed as it contributes to the build up.

In my experience, replacing the throttle body is what will fix the problem. Cleaning it may be a temp fix until then.

probably just needs the idle set screw turned slightly so the blade in it does not close so far that it catches inside ....

WHat idle screw is that? This system uses a PMC managed IAC.

Listen to oldtimer... Clean the t-body. Might even apply some friction with scotch pad and the cleaner.

You need to remove the inlet at the t-body to access the area.

Also know there are recalls on the throttle cable and you also want to look at the cable and linkage for obstruction or kinks.

I have a 2006 Ford Escape and the pedal sticks. Its done it since the car only had 25000 on it. The dealer stated the same thing that is posted here but that isn''t true. When looking at the throttle there was no dirt or build up in there. I believe the car is defective and I''ve just learned to not pull out till all cars have pass. I just hate I have 3 more years before I can get rid of this vehicle. So much for extended warranty. I had several issues with this car from buying new tires at 35000 miles because the tires weren''t wearing right because it came from the factory out of line. Why when Ford Dealer changed my oil and rotated couldn''t tell me this sooner is beyond me. Also the 2 inches of water in my floor becaues the fender wasn''t welded correct from the factory. I think this should have been recalled from the beginning. Sorry no more fords for me!
