Hi...

I bought a 2001 focus 2.0 SPI that needed a new head gasket.  I got the head off and saw that the cylinder has a hole in it and the piston is broken...oh well.

I am going to try to find a used engine for it.  Does anyone now if I will have to take the transmission out to get the engine block out from the top side?  I am a home mechanic so I do not have a hoist.  I got a book but just describes taking both the engine and the transmission out together.

Thanks for the help.

Hartwa.
