Keeper1200 -> Aero Performance Exhaust 3030 XL (1/16/2008 10:35:13 AM)

Good day

This was originally posted in the F150 section, but thought it would be better fit here.  Looking at installing the above on my F150 4.6 L Supercrew.  Already have installed a K&N performance intake system.  Looking for opinions or experiences on the 3030 XL performance exhaust.

Thanks

Think of the inlet and exhaust systems as funnels going into/out of your engine. Of course out of the factory the small end is used. When you change these systems to remove the restriction there will be a performance increase. I've changed my restrictive paper element to a K&N filter and modified my stock air box and can tell a difference. I don't know specifically about the exhaust you're talking about but all of them remove the factory restriction for better flow. I intend on just replacing my stock muffler with a Flowmaster unit. The shop I go to can bend pipes so later I will be letting them do a cat back system maybe with duals. One thing is I don't want to do is make the truck look modified and keep it a 'sleeper'. Now bear in mind that with the more the restrictions are removed the more air will be going thru the engine and the ECU will be trying to supply more fuel. These mods should be within the range of parameters the ECU can handle. You can get several more things like a tuner, larger MAF, larger throttle body and ported inlet. The 4.6L has all the bells and whistles above the 5.4L. Oops ran a bit long didn't I? Hope this helps.

My thanks to you , this was very helpful.  My intent it to squeeze just a little more power out of the truck while towing a travel trailer. I am waiting until the 09 F150 comes out with the 6 speed, I hear pillow talk about a diesel, so that would fit my needs very well.  I am going to get the aero and will post observations here, will also look at the mass airflow sensor as well

My thanks for the information, I will proceed with the Installation soon and post some feedback on the product and any dyno results, etc.  I appreciate your time and comments.

You're welcome. I'm glad you could understand my explanation. It's an air pump that burns fuel for energy. More in then more out. With a 4.6L you can get pretty bizarre with all the parts available for a Mustang that fits a truck.

I believe your exhaust pipe diameter is 2.5 inches in/out. If your going to adapt this one in. From what I understand besides being free flowing it takes care of resonated frequencies that make the hum you hear in the cab. I'm just gonna spend less and get about the same flow with a flowmaster replacement. There's 3 levels of noise and associated price to go with them. The noisy one is $95 and the quieter one is $135 but I didn't price the quietest one. These are prices from the local parts house. Why should I order something and pay shipping to find it's wrong and pay shipping for the right one? It offsets any savings you get online.
