Hi, have a strange problem with my Taurus-89 v6 that I hope that someone can help me with. The car stops and won't start for 1,5-2 hours, then it starts and runs (for a week or so) as there never has been a problem. It will start to lose power and I can only use less and less throotle to keep it running, keeping rpm up to keep the engine alive while trying to limp home, when I use to much throotle it will make nice shooting noises out of the exhaust. It usually happens when the engine is up to temperature, but it can happen after 10 km of driving just as often as after 100 km of driving. This happens, on average, once or twice a month just about when I think that the problem has gone away. Have checked fuelpump and fuel line and it looks OK as far as I can see, anyone got a clue? Regards solve

sounds to me like the coilpack is misfiring when it gets heated up. I'm not sure if you have a coil or coil pack but which ever it is i would try changing that and it should solve it. Sorry for not knowing if it is a coil or coilpack but im a chevy person that just got my first ford but as far as auto mechanics go im ok, and that is what it sounds like to me.
