2001 Ford Windstar jerks while accelerating

As stated in the thread title, I have a 2001 Ford Windstar with 130,000 miles.

Recently while driving on the highway, the car would jerk off and on while accelerating as if it was having problems getting gas.  

I was thinking of putting one of those fuel additives in with my next fill up, but I was wondering what you guys thought.

Ever change out the plugs lately? or like in other threads, run it at night with no lights on under the hood and see if you can see sparks. May need new wires if they are shorting out somewhere under the hood.
