Probably would want to go with better cam to match the carb..  I have a stock 390 cast iron 4v manifold collecting dust if you have any interest.....

Yeah.... can't give it away!! Plus, I'd have to find a home for all them spiders ;) Weighs as much as a Volkswagon too..

I had a 69 F250 4x4, that I converted to 4BBL, ran an RV cam, and a set of headers, exhaust pushed through turbo muffs.. Sounded great, 'snappy' throttle.. Was a towing brutt for it's time..

You do not have to change the heads. There are many aftermarket intakes to fit 2v heads. There are not very many aftermarket intakes to fit 4v heads. You do know a fe motor is not a shoe in fit for 1978

money is not an issue. I am looking to completely rebuild the motor, and add aftermarket heads, headers, intake, carb and cam. I am looking for suggestions for the best way of doing this such as part brands and such. I want a reliable mtor with allot of torque and good mid range for mudding and pulling. I dont have a problem with running on premium gas such as a compression up.

If money is not an issue then why a fe motor? I happen to love the fe motor in the right car or truck. You have to change alot of parts to put a fe motor in a 1978 ie trans, transfer, drivelines, not to mention all the little stuff ie hoses, wiring. Just wanted to know why the fe alot of work. There are there whys to put a motor in this truck. what motor was in it? 351m, 400m, ???

i have no idea what motor is in it haven't been able to pick it up from the original owner yet not to include bought it . just got the money this past weekend and has to go thro courts before i get it sometime in this next week . From talking to the guy it sounds like he put a car motor in it so I'm thinking something like a 302 or something . or maybe he said put a car oil pan on it for better ground clearence but that made no sense I'm going over there this weekend i'll talk to the guy and get back to you on which motor is in it
