Hi folks.
Am new to the forum neighborhood and I'm hoping that someone can help me out with an axle length question.

I am the proud owner of a 1995 GT, Auto Trans., with ABS and the CV joints are starting to go after about 125,000 miles.

Looking at replacement axles I have enountered a possible problem.

My manual lists the following length requirements:
LEFT   25-13/32  to 25-15/16 inch
RIGHT  23-9/16 to 23-31/32 inch

The parts supplier states the following dimensions: (compressed)

LEFT  24-5/8  +/-  1/8      RIGHT  22-3/4  +/- 1/8 inch

Supplier also states that the parts are applicable for all 93-97 Probes, regardless of engine or transmission and with or without ABS.  Has stated that the above would be the correct fit.

I did NOT have my service manual info at hand when I spoke with the supplier's tech. service rep.

Since the length difference in what the supplier's technical services dept. info is and what my manual states is around 1 inch shorter I'm wondering which info is correct.

Does anyone have any newer tech manual data or other source data that can help me resolve my length concerns.  Want to make sure that I'll have proper fit-up before I get into replacing any parts.
Am I missing or misinterpreting  something here?

Thanks

Your manual states what it has to hang out to (uncompressed?) My guess is if you compare the old to the new in length that may be no problem. Also be sure to double check shaft thicknesses and tooth numeration. If it all fits in easy and tight at the seals/bearings and the length is very close/near identical when you have them side-by-side I forsee no problem.
