first post here!!

just need some guidance w/ my 02 escape, i dont know if it makes a diff or not but it is an XLT, front disc, rear drum. the brakes have an estimated 70% life left on them but the fronts squeal REALLY bad, shoft and hard braking, i took to midas and they said the rotors and pads were glazed, they resurfaced pads and rotors, $130... now they were okay for a half of day, now they squeak again, but only on hard braking....

anyone have this problem? solution?

also midas told me that the escape brakes are ceramic (OEM), this seems like BS because not even my benz uses ceramic as OEM... anyone run into this too?

thanks in advance!

Alex

Take it back to Midas and have them fix it right. Ask if they use any anti-squeal or buy it at any auto part store and apply it to the back of the pads.

Resurfacing PADS are a NO-NO, throw them in the trash , once there glazed there NO good !!!, Now you can resurface Rotors.

For $130 dollars, you could have almost purchased new rotors and pads and installed them yourself. My 2005 Escape did come with ceramic as OE. This is more and more common these days. If you are handy, I suggest that you go to an online retailer and order some quality parts and do the brake job yourself. I have used Rockauto.com in the past to order brake parts and was very pleased. I put new Raybestos rotors and ceramic pads on the front of my 2002 Explorer for $159.00...

This is more a FYI to others on the brake issue. I have a 2001 Ford Escape. I took it to the my local Ford dealership 2 years ago to have the brakes replaced. They have squeaked horribly ever since. I took it back to the dealership twice and both times were told there is nothing they can do. They said the brakes looked fine and had no explanation. I'm not sure if it is the parts from Ford or the dealership. Needless to say I will not buy another Escape and will not use that dealership in the future.

I drive a 03 Escape, purchased it used with 32,000 miles. The only issue I had with brakes was a vibration which after about 1 month went away. No problems since & very satisfied with it.
