I have a 99 E150 I can't gete it out of park, there must be sonething wrong in the wiring because this happened a month ago and when I tilted to steering up it started to work again. Anyone know how to jumper it out of park or anyway to get it out of park. It;s sitting on the other side of town in a parkinglot.

thanks

James

Hi James..

Are the stop lamps working?

The shift interlock solenoid works off the brake peddle position switch, but being it's intermittent or with a column tilt, sounds possibly like the interlock solenoid or linkage.. To get it home,, you could go under the dash and 'un-snap'  the trans shift cable off of the column shifter arm (with a helper for holding the brakes) at the steering columns base just above the carpet heel plate looking up from the floor.. You can also do it under the van but much more hazardous.. I believe you can 'just barely' access the interlock release lever from around the backside of the column base/shift arm, but its a very tight squeeze and hard to see since the column assembly bolts up close to the dash support..

Here's a pic of the trans cable attachment.. You might be able to take it loose from the cable mounting backet, as well as the cable/arm connection and drop it down to be able to shift it at the lower dash level..
