I have a '08 Ford Escape 4cyl.  Went to the Ford Dealer to get an oil change, why are they still stating 3000 mile/ 3 month oil change on the windshield sticker?  Manual states 7500/ 6 month for schedule A and 5000/6 month for schedule B?

Also anyone suggest 7500/ 6 month using synthetic for Schedule B maintenance?

Oil is cheap - change it every 3000 miles so you can have peace of mind!

your engine will last a whole hell of a lot longer that way too. I changd mine every 2500, and the cylinders still have the cross-hatch pattern on them after 90,000 miles!

98% of all vehicles fall under the "SEVERE DUTY".  So if using DINO juice, go with the 3-5,000/6 month oil change pattern.  If using synthetic, you should still follow the MFG suggested practice.  AMSOIL is the only oil MFG that recommends extended drail intervals and stands behind their product.

Jonzo,

Just curious...

How do you know that your cylinders still have the cross-hatch marks on them?  Did you pull your head(s)?  If so, why?  Or did you borescope them for something to do?
