Im replacing a 98 windstar power window motor passenger front side.
when i take out the motor and regulator can i tape the gear and bracket the motor that held them together real tight ?will that be good enough to hold the window from coming down? i mean use furnace tape or etc.good tape.  or should i tape the track that the window is actually in or at least put something in there to hold it up? any help would be appreciatted. thanks

Easy way to hold the window full up or in place/position, is to use duct tape and tape a good 'vertical lenght' of the inside portion of the glass (or mutiple), running the tape over the door/window frame (cover the painted surface) and then on down the outer glass surface.. With frameless glass applications, a strip of duct tape on the 'outside felt strip'  running the lenght of the glass or a good portion of, will usually hold it from dropping..

also on a 98 can i just replace the window motor without taking anything else out ?just taping or making sure the window glass does not come down. when i remove motor will the gear and spring remain intact or not? on mine it looks like it should. i just hope i dont have trouble getting the motor back in if you say this should work. thanks for a reply.

How can i lower the passenger door window a couple of inches? i havent been able to budge it at all.   i have a new power window motor for it. Im trying to put in the motor without taking out the regulator. i was told i could  lower the window  enough to move the motor and reg. up where the speaker hole is where i can get to it.
