(1)=factory trans  (2)=new one

I'm swapping an inline6 for a 302 in my '79 fairmont futura, and both have C4 tranny's... I bought the 302 with the (2)trans attached. when i got home i noticed that the 8's (2)trans has a transfer case! What i need to know is, how difficult is it to take off the transfer case, and put the tailshaft from the other (1)trany on?
The body on the one that is curently on the car(1) is in rough shape, and i don't want to use that one anymore, but if i must, i can just switch the bellhousing...
Please don't tell me to scrap both of them, and get a C6... that's my last resort.

Thank You in advance
