I have kind of a goofy scenario that I've never seen before. Did a search and didn't find much.
I have an '01 that doesn't want to start every time I put fuel in it. Runs great otherwise, but it's happened the last four times I've stopped for gas. I put gas in it, go to start it, and have to crank forever with my foot on the pedal to get it started. But then, once it does start, it runs like a champ again. No CEL and no associated failure codes are present.
Any ideas???

I haven't had this problem with my expedition but did with my ranger.  Try not toping off when you fuel it.  I think the trouble I was having was from packing fuel into the tank.  My guess is that it is filling the vacumm line full of fuel and the computer doesn't sence the vacumn until you crank it long enough to clear the line.  I stopped topping the tank on the ranger and never had the problem again.  I hope this is helpful.
