well this is were im at i have a 1995 ford explorer limited 4X4 few weeks ago my driver side headlight blew the low beam so i went and bought a new bulb replaced it and didnt fix it. itonly mess's up on driver side high beam works but not low beam so i took it to a shop they said the plug was bad so i ordered it and replaced it and still no low beam anyone with any suggestions p[lease help

Do you have 'autolamps'? I not, check the I/P (instrument panel) fuse panel, the lamps are fused....

I have checked all my fuses both the side dash and under the hood all are in good working order. im stumped but thanks for your reply,

Do you have autolamps? Yes/No??

Their a different setup as far as circuit/function between autolamp equipped, and standard lighting control....

ok but how do i find out if i have auto lamps or standard lighting control?

The autolamp equipped will have the lamp control functions in the rear view mirror.. Should look like this image below... If you don't have autolamps, be sure to check 'both' sides in/out of the fuses (positions #4 15amp for left, #8 15amp right) for 12V, not just removing the fuse and looking for an open/burned fuse... Trying to remember, does your truck have the 'lamp out' indicator? If you have power distribution through the #4 15amp fuse, then the next step would be to check the W/LG wire at the headlamp connector for 12V (low beam circuit/left side) or probe the wire prior to the connector if a harness repair pigtail was used..

aight i do have the auto lamps i have checked the fuses  and connectors they are getting 12 volts and still no left low beam i have even taken both grounds on either side and took sand paper to them to clean them up. all connections and nut and stud still no low beam im at a loss.

I had an identical problem on my '96 a few years ago. It was the headlamp control module which is in the console under the ashtray/ cup holders. It monitors the light functions and when it fails, the one headlight stops working. It's best to remove the part and take it with you to the dealer as most will not know what you're talking about otherwise. Larger dealers may stock it, but it's a crap shoot if the smaller ones do. The good news is that it only costs about $65. I say that's good because my ancient Porsche has a similar thing and it cost about $350.
