Flashing tranny light

Ihave a 2000 taurus 3.0dohc with ax4n with 120000 miles Just got it Trans light would flash after about 10 miles at 55 mph. so checked the fluid about 1 pint low filled to spec. But it was brownish not red so i thought maybe change filter and fluid did that now drove it about 8 miles at 55mph light started to flash trany shifted to 2nd gear and stuck there now just have 2nd and reverse. Ihave a obd II code reader but cant get any codes from trany or trany is not sending out any codes Please help let me know if i need to post more info thanks

Fixed the 2nd gear problem. Checked the fuses and the fuse for trans shift silonoid was blown. How this happend right after i changed fluid and filter i don't know. Shifts fine now but still have the problem with the light coming on. Took it to ford dealer and they pulled up code p0741 torque converter slip fault. They told me that this could be a prior code that it may just keep showing up. Not sure why they did not clear the codes when they had it hooked up. Is there a way I can clear this code or is it on ford has to clear. Thanks Joe.

disconnect the battery for an hour and try it. it may clear the computer of all codes...
