My 98 Contour, 2.5L V6 has refused to start, PATS system failure with P1260 "Theft Detected Vehicle Immobilized" code up. Not the first time though. Had it come up before, removed remote start system, fine for a while, then it returned. Could not get the car started, no matter what tricks were tried.
Dealer has had the car now for about 5 weeks. They replaced the transiever collar, still no go. Tested the PATS module & found to be bad, BUT, we cannot find a replacement. Ford does not make it anymore, junkyards have turned up nothing cause this particular module is only on the 98's, and used parts networks on the net don't have it. HELP!!!
I know this is lengthy but I'm almost at my wits end. Is their anything that can be done, mods, etc. that will get my car to start. Other than this problem the car runs great and has only 90K miles.
