I am having an issue with my 19998 Ford Ranger v6 Mannual Transmission.. I took it to a machanic and He told me it was a computer update problem, The engine reves up between changing gears. My gas mileage has dropped since this started. It doesn't do it all the time. I am at a loss has anyone else had this problem.. Is this something I need to take to the dealer?.. Any help would be appreciated.. thanks

Never heard of a computer update problem. I'd take it to a different mechanic. Does the engine rev at idle also? May just need the Iac cleaned or the MAF sensor cleaned.
