Hello,

The engin oil dip stick of my 1998 Ford Countour break, with the rod part remaining inside the tube. I guess I have to uninstall the tube and remove the broken stick.

My question is how to uninstall the dip stick tube. Do I need to discharge the engin oil first? If not, when I pull out the tube upward (after I removing some fixztion bolts if there are some), will the engin spill all around?

Thanks for your advice.

-Derek

The same happened to my Contour'98 during the last change-oil operation... but the guys at the shop managed to remove the broken part and replaced it with an equivalent... no tube unmount or emptying of the oil,  as far as I know. I even was able to drive the car for one day until they got the spare.
