Greetings,

Today I found that my brake lights and turn signals were dead on my 2000 Expy XLT 4x4.  I checked out the passenger-compartment fuse box, and sure enough, #13 was blown.  I popped in a replacement 20A fuse.  Turn signals tested OK.  But I heard the fuse blow when I stepped on the brake.  Interesting!  The only other fuse I had was a 25A so I went for it.  I'm a big dummy  - my stupidity was rewarded by a plume of gray smoke rising from under the hood!!!!!!!  Pull the fuse!!!!!!!  Lift the hood....and OMG!  Smoke from the Brake Pressure Switch!

Guess my Expy made the recall, after all

This could've been a lot worse, but fortunately the damage appears to be limited to the connector.  The spades melted the plastic and pulled right out.

I think for now I'll just tape it off and be on my way.  Do you guys (and gals) think I'll be OK that way?

Do you think the dealer will just give me parts to make a proper repair or will I have to surrender my only set of wheels for service?

Best regards,

Tim ==
