I had a problem with the ABS system, T/C, and brake system of a 04 Taurus (88,500 miles). When I hit brake and the car speed reduced to within 20miles, the ABS and T/C light up with a long chime. In the same time, the dash information system shows “check brake system” and “check contraction control”. I had this problem before, which made me replaced new brake pads for 4 wheels, re-programmed ABS module, and had brake system checked. The dealer told me that the brake system is OK. It is because the old pads were too thin, so it may cause ABS and T/C light up. This was only 1,500 mile ago. Now the problem comes back again.  They told me that if this problem comes back again, the whole ABS module probably needs to be replaced. My question here is

(1) how much does it cost (parts and labor) to replace the ABS module. I could not find it on Motorcraft website;

(2) If the cost is too high (>$500), can I just ask the dealer to disable ABS and T/C. I know the brake will still work without ABS and T/C.

(3) any other suggestions on this problem?
