i have a 99 f250 super duty 2 wheel drive 5.4 v-8 extended cab - when i am coming to a stop light or stop sign the truck will pop (sounds crude but not sure how else to explain it) - it makes the popping noise and sometimes you can feel the truck shift almost as if something is in a bind - i have look at everything i can think of and i see nothing wrong underneath other than the fact that the inside of the tires are wearing more than the outside - someone told me the popping noise is the ball joints but the manual i have says there was no way of changing them at the time of printing - so before i go spending a ton of money on a new front end i want to make sure what the problem is

I have the same sound on My 04 F250 Superduty 4x4 it just started about a thousand miles ago I have 72000 on it now. It only makes the poping sound when I am slowing to a stop but I can feel it on my feet on the floor board. Thought it was the hubs at first. I dont do alot of off roading. But I use the 4 wheel drive alot in the winter. I have both manual and auto locking hubs. But never lock them in manualy. If anyone has a clue. I would appreciate the help would rather put the labor costs into my fuel tank

Has anyone figured this out? I also have the same sound in the front of my company truck, a 2003 F-250 SD, 2wheel, regular cab. I too can feel it popping under my feet. I have looked and tugged and banged on things but I don't see any problems. It feels like it is coming from the rail that comes off the ibeam for the driver side. I am going to replace the bushings in there and hope that stops it. If anyone else has figured this problem out please post here as I haul lots of weught with this truck and want to make sure it stays safe on the highways. My las load was 8000 lbs between the truck and trailer. I would hate to lose that and kill someone.

I found the problem in my truck. A good sized rock had gotten up on top of the control arm that extends from the I-beam to the bushing mount under the cab. It was just the right size to hide in there. I took the bushing bolt off, dropped the arm just a little, using a jack, and boom there was the culprit.

Sounds too easy to be true but it worked. The sound is gone.

Just something to check. Simple cheap fix for sure! :)
