OK,

Went to start my 2006 Freestyle.  It started to turn over, but didn't.  I tried again and it was DEAD.  The passive alarm light is freaking out, and making a ticking noise.  I pulled key out, and back again to see if it miss read the key.  I got out of car and used key to get in car to see if that works.  The car is DEAD except that passive alarm light and sound.   Anyone have any information or help.  The Ford Freestyle book says that if this happens, take to an authorised dealer for repair.  I can't take the car if I can't move it.  I guess towing is the only answer.  Has this happened to anyone else?

Any information would be helpful.  My mechanic is on his way.
