viet68 -> 1999 Ford down shift problem (6/1/2008 2:53:12 PM)

I have a 1999 Ford Ranger 3.0 AT . It just started stammering when going up a hill. It wants to down shift into lower gear but seems to not find the gear. Is this possibly the speed sensor in the differential?
