Last year my car 95 Lincoln MK VIII was blowing a little not so cold air, so I put some freon in it. This year when I went to turn on my A/C it did not blow cold at all. I tried to recharge it, but still blows regular air. My compressor kicks on every 4 sec or so and on for about 1 then back off for 4 seconds then on again for 1 sec. What is wrong with my A/C? The tube on right is cold when running it when I charged it.

sounds like its still low it takes a whil to chrge whe they are that low may have to ha leak repaired vacumed down and recharged

if u dont know what check for leaks vacum down and recharge means i''d advise taking it to a air conditioning shop

You''ve lost enough charge that you will need to have a vacuum pulled on the system and leak checked. You normally cannot add enough freon to a system that doesn''t have a vacuum to make the system work properly. You could also have a bad LOW or HIGH pressure switch that is causing the cycling. But, I would suspect a leak.

Yaa, There are chances of leakage. However its better to take it to the garrage.

Another thing to watch out for...

When adding freon to the system, DO NOT use any cans that have oil in them. Your system only requires 7 oz. of oil. Any more and you take the chance of hydro-locking your FS-10 compressor which normally will destroy the pump in a couple of seconds as it is a "WOBBLE" pump. Your system also only holds 34 oz. of 134a. Any more than this and you can end up with the same senario.

I don''t have an answer to your problem, but if it''s any consolation, the AC compressor in my 94 Taurus is doing the same thing. Kicks on every 4 sec or so and runs for a second then stops. I''ve had the car for five and a half years and the AC always cooled fine until last October when it quit cooling suddenly. I think it lost all it''s freon from a leak that must have developed somehow. It doesn''t have any pressure, and pushing the check valves on either the low or the high side release no gas, i.e. make no hissing noise of gas escaping, so I believe non is in there. I''m going to have a dye test done to check for leaks.

Common problem on the Taurus/Sable is the A/C line will rust out. If you follow the A/C line from the dryer/accumulator back towards the firewall, you will see a foam covering over the line. This is where they normally will rust at. I replaced this line on both the 95 Sable and 00 Taurus I have owned. Have seen others with the same issue.
