I have a 99 f-350 4x4 v-10. My problem is when traveling down the road i feel as if i am always correcting my steering . 3 different mechanics have told me 3 different things. I have been told it is the steering gear box. the brand of tires, and something in the steering column. Don''t want to spend 5,000 for a $350 problem. any common problems with this year. also my ball joints have been replaced and all mechanics say they are good. any help greatly appreciated. thanks

i doubt its a brand of tires that are making you have to correct frequently. that seems a lil far fetched. Steering column seems more realistic, unlike a brand of tires. Poor excuse for a mechanic if you ask me.

alignment is good and the steering gear box has been adjusted. when my ball joints were replaced they did not replace them with greasable ones. they were replaced at 60,000 now 132000. but all mechanics, say the joints are good. what in the column would be out of whack. could it be the u-joint in the steering shaft just before the shaft goes into the box?
