My heater blower motor will only kick in when I put it on the max setting. It doesn't matter about any of the other settings as it works the same whether I am using the A/C or kicking out some heat. I have tried replacing the blower motor and the fan speed switch with no luck. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help is much appreciated. I have a 98Ranger XLT extended cab 3.0litre V6 auto. Thanks for any help...........Jason

Check the ballast resistor. It is located on the passenger side, on the heater plenum chamber, next to the bower motor. The resistor coils are in the blower airstream inside the chamber.

Frack,
Redfox is right about the problem, but I'm sure they call it the, 'blower motor resistor' pack or assy.
