My wife bought this truck for me while I was in Iraq and I like it but it needs a better motor. Currently has a 351M and everyone I talk to sayes they make a great boat anker. Should I swith to a 302 and modify it. I want it to be a beast but don't want to pay out the butt for it . Should I try to build it my self (old motors seem pretty basic). Also I keep reading about tranny's what is the C4 and C6 I am so lost with the auto lingo. Thanks for your help. Oh yea where can I get a new bed for it. The previous owner put what looks like a 80's model bed on it. Again thanks

FIRST, THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE IN OUR MILITARY!!!!! wish I had a dot with a salute, from a sailor

Don't know who you been talking to, but If you don't want to pay out the butt, just rebuild the engine you got. I've heard it said that the 302 is cheaper to modify, so I think this is true. But I've heard that after 300HP the block can split right down the middle. So I think a 390 or 460 can be mod'd to much higher HPs. As for the C4 and C6 there are a FMX, C4 and C6 and of these the C6 is the one to go with. But that what I've heard

Awww, a '77....stepside??? just the truck I want.

Now Thats a WIFE !!!!!! You should be Proud !!! , yea we use to call those M motors Mofidite's, get rid of it an get you A 351 W ( you cant beat a 460 for all out brute power ) . I think a 302 would be a tab under powered for a F250, An That C6... it dont get no better just re-fresh it a bit an you should be good to go. You might try JC Whiteny for a bed , All I can think of off hand , When I worked for Uncle Sam thats were we got most of our stuff. You just cant find auto parts store oversea's like we have here in the WORLD ,, { USA }

Hey guys I appreciate the help. So I guess I will look and see if I can find a 351W and try to modify it myself. However I don't now what kind of pistons to get and what not. I don't care what the HP is as long as it is not a sissy. Oh yea I amost forgot. Someone told me that I could convert the front end from a King pin to bearings does anyone know how to do this or if it is possible. Thanks again.

Dont know about the pistons, but I think a good hotrod shop could help. As for the king pin to bearings, because of the twin beam suspention you need the king pins for the pivit point from lift to right, the rotor hubs still have bearings. So not sure what you asking
