Thanks ramrod, but I changed the battery with a new one. I was putting out about 13 volts. Hope this new one works. I hate it when I'm afraid to go to far.

Yeppers : That very common for them to have a high voltage reading ,An still be no good . Seems a real hot day , Or a cold snap will kill a sick battery real quick, Just yesteday I got a call from a customer , George has been doing bussiness with us for like 14 yrs now. He called saying he was at the 7-11 stuck truck broke down, Says he pulled in at lunch time to get fuel an it wouldnt restart. He said it started fine that morning , an started fine going to lunch the Voltage was showing like 14 volts. I kinda figured it was the battery , loaded up the van had a battery in stock , an grabbed the load tester., The battery showed 12.80 volts in the truck , as soon as u hit the key it dropped. An you could hear the starter click click ,So I put the load tester on the battery an applied a load it dropped like a rock, Dropped the new battery in started it up ran like a top Alt was showing like 14.25 volts high idle , An like 35 amps output., You just cant go by the voltage alone , You need to LOAD test the battery 2 times , Once to take the surface charge off it an the second time to see the condition of the battery , . Also I've had Alt . showing Voltage output of like 14.50 . But only putting out like 5 AMP's. not enough to keep things going. Usually a bad cell will give a high voltage reading, but then died when you put a load on it. If you have muptile cells that have failed you will get a real low reading. Each cell should put out like 2Volts each.A tad more then you probaly wanted to know . But it all goes along with the gig
