I''''m new to this forum, so bare with me. I drive a 88 ford ranger 2.9L fuel injection 4 cylinder, v6, 5 speed manual transmission.

My problem is that it acts up on me when  I''''m in stop and go traffic and when I drive slow for long periods of time, like 100 feet.

What happens when I start out in first gear my truck doesn''''t want to move I pretty much put my foot on the gas and all I hear is the rumble of the exhaust from the tail pipe. When I go to shift into 2nd gear the truck short of jerks. when I come to a stop my rpm''''s stop jumping up and down below 1k if I don''''t give it some gas the truck will die on me and I would have to start the truck up again.

When my truck starts to act up like this what I do is step on the clutch and give it alot of gas and the would get the rpm back to where it needs to be and I can shift normally. It only happens a few times and the truck runs great.

I think it as to do with something to do with the gas, my friends think it''''s the fuel filter. I just want some ideas that some of you people might think it is?
