I have a 1997 ford crown victoria ( non natural gas ).
It has the 4.6L V8.

I have been having problems starting the car when it is hot, and sometimes when running for a few minutes. This problem has been occuring for a little over 2 months.

I usually have to crank 3-4 times before she will run when hot, and a couple times she will start, stall then die. But 98% I can get her to run.
She runs smooth plenty of power and no hesitation.

The vehicle is in great shape, always serviced at the dealer, it has about 118,000 miles.

Recent tune-up less than a month ago.
Spark plugs, wires, air filter, pcv valve, fuel filter, and a bottle of fuel injector cleaner.

And I had the vehicle at the dealer for the ( Cruise Control ) recall and retrofit with the new harness and they changed the ( Coolant Temperature Sensor ) less than a week ago.

And all the wiring and sensors seem to be fine.
The battery connections and vehicle grounds are clean with no corrosion.

Also there is no ( CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ) and I read the computer there is no codes.

Any advice would greatly be appreciated
Thanks.

Thanks for the info.

I checked the Crankshaft Position Sensor
and the Camshaft Position Sensor.
It checked out good but since it is intermittent I changed the parts anyway. I bought the parts straight from the Ford dealer.

I also checked the connections and the signal from the
Powertrain Control Module - that checked out good also.

Still the same problem.

Im really starting to scratch my head now.

Any other ideas.
Thanks for the help.

Check the fuel pressure regulator.  If this goes bad the car won''t maintain fuel pressure in the lines.  When you start the car it has to pump fuel all the way from the tank to the engine which is why you have to crank it several times.  Once the car is running and the fuel pump is pumping fuel, it runs fine like there''s no problem.

Let the car sit for a while and have a mechanic check the fuel pressure at the schraeder valve on the fuel rail.
