97 e150 door RH handle stuck on the open position?

It won''t spring back to its normal position. I have taken the door panel off to see what is happening inside, mechanicaly. It appears that there is a post on the handle itself that is causing the rod that opens the door to be pressed away when I apply force (pull the handle from outside) to the handle after I manage to fix the problem temporarely. My question is; Is there supposed to be a grommet on the post of the handle that is contacting the rod that opens the door?
or; can anyone hook me up with an image of the assembly so I can fix myself, if possible.
FYI, the door can only be openned from the inside. A pain in the rear when you try to be a gent to the lady.
