Need an affordable suv for mountaineering. My F100 w/428 forces me to get a reverse mortgage on my home every time I fill it up. Now I have found a Bronco II, automatic, 2.9, clean outside but needs TLC interiorwise. Owner claims 20 mpg on the highway and 15 in town. I will only use it when I go into the local mountains. Not off-roading but going over some pretty disolate high desert and mountains. Usually 9000 foot level at the top and I would seldon be over 7000. Not pulling a load but some short 35% climbs for several hundred yards. Will the suspension handle gravel or dirt road travel. My research on the Bronco shows serious problems with auto transmissions and with cooling. Summertime temperatures are at 100+ July through mid-September on the desert floor and 80-90 at the 6000 foot level mid-day.

It''s a good little vehicle with available upgrades if desired.
