I have a 2000 Taurus Wagon with a AXOD Metric transaxle. I need to remove the drivers side halfshaft but don''t want to cause damage to the transaxle. The 2000 Ford Workshop manual seems to suggest that you put a slide hammer on the inboard CV joint and give it a whack. The Haynes manual says to insert a prybar or large screw driver between the inner CV joint housing and the transaxel case and pry just enough to release the circlip. The Ford Workshop Manual says the circlip is just on the right side. I would like to hear the correct method from someone that has actually removed the drivers side halfshaft from a 2000 Taurus AXOD transaxel, and what kind of tool they used to dislodge it. Thanks!
