So mine has a lot of mileage. I''m talkin'' over 220k. Crazy right? Well it still seems to be in pretty good condition but I was wondering if getting the engine rebuilt is an option? Or would it be worth it? The only problems so far was with the gas tank not taking gas (it fixed itself for now), the brakes, and the transmission fluid needs to be flushed (it slips out of reverse). My mom is kinda hard on it in my opinion. When she wants it to get speed, it just kinda kicks in but mostly makes the revving noise as if it was in neutral, so is the car at fault or the handler? Haha forgive me, I''m not that savvy with cars but they''re a passion and I can learn pretty quick. Any suggestions are appreciated :)

If the trans is high mileage and having issues, along with the engine at the end of its service life, it would cost more than the cars value to correct all the problems IMO.. But concidering the cost of a new car, low mileage replacement, and/or any sentimental value factored in? the repair option is always open.. The machinist in our local engine shop is still driving his originally purchased 1962 Chevy pickup and keeps it alive decade after decade.. An engine/trans ''exchange'' would probably be a better bet for a replacement engine long block, and a reman trans, or have the trans built as the engine change is being performed.. Doing them both at the same time would help with the R&R labor times, vehicle down time, and generally can be a better value.. Unless you can help with the engine/trans building, and/or component removal, shop time, both machine and service, can add up quick..
