I bought a new Escape without the trailering package but want to add trailer light hook up and hitch. Ford sells two wiring harness but I have no idea which one to use or where the harness plugs in. I am sure it cannot be that difficult but the dealer wants over $500 to add hitch and wiring. Can any body provide help or a good place to find this information?

Hi, Go to Ebay and type in gtoman73. I bought a wiring kit for my 2005 Ford Escape and was pretty simple to hook up. If I'm not mistaken it was around $25.00 less s/h. If you do get one and have trouble, email me and I will walk you through the steps. If you dont see one listed for the Ford Escape, email him cause I'm sure he has one. Any questions, email me! Jake

I would try a NAPA, auto parts store , ( for the plug an hitch ) they usually have a lot of stuff for newer vechiles, I know on the newer Fords , usually there is a connecter in the back , you un-plug Install this TEE connecter an hook up your lites there no cutting / butchering up the harness like some folks do. That just leads to all kinds of problems. An Normally even if you didnt order the tow package Ford has the elec. tie in's there, Cause it just cost too much money to make several wiring harness's for the same vechile. An as far as the hitch , get out your phone book an look up Hitch's, Iam sure there probaly several in your town, Chances are you never needed them an didnt know they where there , As try welding shop's. Most offer a line of premade an or will / Fab you one -- also theres U-haul dealers , ----- Check them prices
