Recently replaced my 1997 Expedition 2WD with new 2005 Expedition 2WD. Love the 5.4 3 valve power compared to my old 4.6 and it gets about the same mileage on the road. However, I am disappointed in the fact the 2WD is now the same height at the 4WD models. My 97 was about 3 inches lower and I miss that. Easier to get in and out of. Yes, I know it is an SUV but I really liked the height of the 1997 model. Has anyone lowered their 2004 or 2005 Expeditions? If so, what is there any difference in handling, etc. I would expect this to be more complicated on the these later models due to the independent rear suspension. TIA Don PS Just a quick observation. After several months of harassment from my son wanting to buy my 97 Expedition, I finally agreed and that is what triggered my buying the new Expedition. My 97 had approx 120K on it and was one of the most reliable vehicles I have ever had. While I like my new 05, I am disappointed in several things. The ride height mostly, but minor things like the missing cubby holes and pop out cup holders in the dash, the stupid cup holder arrangement in the console. Nothing fits the holes, no place for the handles, etc. The plain Jane instrument panel. The speedometer and tach look like something from a toy car (simple but dumb looking), the fact the middle seat leaves a gap in the bed when folded down. The radio is far fancier with in dash CD, etc, but my old radio worked better as far as reception. Lots of little things that leave me feeling I liked my old 97 better........
