i am running a 347 stroker in a mud drag truck. i have moved the radiator to the bed to the truck. i have it hard piped to the motor with the hard pipe connected with radiator hose. i also have a bleed of at the highest point of the motor. i am using a stock water pump with a electric drive kit. my problem is i keep getting air pockets causing it to run hot. i have a electric fan on the radiator and have removed the thermostat.

any ideas????????

Sounds like a fun toy ,,, How do you know that you are getting air pocket's ????? ,,,Running a system with out a thermostat never allows the water a chance to cool off in the Radiator. ,,, Most engines you can not run with out a thermostat as they will run hot , an FORD is one of the Worst . An todays Engines run far hotter then they did in the in say the 60's, When it was quite common to run a engine with out a T-stat .An normally the more power you produce the more heat your going to generate, Kinda goes hand in hand . At NAPA , they sell an adapter that you put where the RAD. cap goes , on the top of it theres a fitting for a garden hose ( its meant to back flush the RAD. there cheap like , $8.00 bucks , I would get one of those, An hook the hose up to it , Open the upper bleed on the motor any try filling it that way , put it on a slow fill,,,

A lack of a thermostat causing a hot condition, that's a new one on me! The function of a thermostat is to remain closed until the water in the engine reaches a specific temp, then open and allow it to cool in the radiator. Chances are without a thermostat you wont even get the heat gage off the peg.
As for the air pockets, are you still running a heater core in the system? Heater cores are a major source of aggravation, and it's very hard to flush air out of them without a thermostat present to stop water from being pumped to the radiator. Just a thought (though in retrospect I have no idea why you would have a heater in a mud drag truck...).
