'95 Escort, Automatic.
When I come to a stop with the car in Drive, it will vibrate noticeably, but when you flip it into Neutral it goes away and idles fine.

Vacuum or Sensor???

it is probably a vacuum line. At least that is what I have experienced in the past. If the check engine light is on then start looking at a sensor.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the concern you have is probably normal. The 4-cylinder engine in the escort is known to have a bad vibration, especially felt in the steering wheel at a hot idle in drive and worse with the a/c on. The good news is that the little cars run forever if you keep up on your scheduled maintenance.

Possibly motor mount defect, maybe?

I agree with Jesusjeep19. It could possibly be a motor mount. My girlfriend's car begins to vibrate at the light sometime after the car has warmed up. Not TOO bad, but the culprit was a bad motor mount.
