Vibrates @ stop in drive...

DanH -> Vibrates @ stop in drive... (6/30/2004 9:18:15 AM)

'95 Escort, Automatic.
When I come to a stop with the car in Drive, it will vibrate noticeably, but when you flip it into Neutral it goes away and idles fine.

Vacuum or Sensor???

it is probably a vacuum line. At least that is what I have experienced in the past. If the check engine light is on then start looking at a sensor.

my '99 automatic escort tends to vibrate alot in drive but is fine for the most part once its in park. would this be the same kinda problem?

If the engin light is on and the vheical has more than 120,000 miles chech the O2 senseror.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the concern you have is probably normal. The 4-cylinder engine in the escort is known to have a bad vibration, especially felt in the steering wheel at a hot idle in drive and worse with the a/c on. The good news is that the little cars run forever if you keep up on your scheduled maintenance.

MY 1998 FORD ESCORT WITH 150,000 MILES DOES THE SAME SHAKING MOVEMENT BUT IT GOT WORST THE PAST 2 YEARS WHATS UP WITH THAT

jesusjeep19 -> RE: Vibrates @ stop in drive... (12/22/2006 4:25:02 PM)

Possibly motor mount defect, maybe?

chefboiali -> RE: Vibrates @ stop in drive... (1/20/2007 2:39:23 PM)

I agree with Jesusjeep19. It could possibly be a motor mount. My girlfriend's car begins to vibrate at the light sometime after the car has warmed up. Not TOO bad, but the culprit was a bad motor mount.
