By any chance Ya'll , Seen any of the diesel's converted over to run off used cooking oil ??? , If I can find a p/u for a reasonable amount that aint in too rough a shape , I would like to try converting one Myself. With the rising cost of GAS these days its a killer. I bought $20.00 dollars of fuel the other day an only got a tad over 7 gallons. A year ago I could drive to work all week on $20.00 dollars. Now I get less then 2 days, Yea I live close to home errr work yea !!!!

Yea, it’s called bio-diesel, as best I can tell it’s just cooking oil added to methane (racing fuel) with some other added things to make a chemical change. Then drain the waste and use the fuel. I think I’d do it, if I had a diesel. Only problems I can think of are, 1 where you going to get so much used cooking oil from (I know restaurants use a lot of it, so it seems to me if I owned hamburger joint I catch all the oil I could to sell it). 2 what about the waste? Is it hazardous? How do you get rid of it? 3 Where you going to cook this much stuff up at all the time? I know I don’t have to space.

Ive heard of using cooking oil in a diesel. Some local restaurants around here use that in their delivery vehicles. All you have to do is filter the oil and you can dump it right in (dont quote me on that though).
The only problem is that its not practical for everyone because not all of us have a cheap and abundant source of oil. Its not economical to to go buy it at the grocery store, it costs about twice as much as diesel.
Its a novel idea though and Id say it high time we started burning corn and soybean oil and tell the Arabs to get lost.
